Testimony
"In the many times that we have seen her perform, there
were moments that made us believe, in a certain sense, that
Mrs. Appel is a very necessary and useful contributor to the
large stage personnel ... when she is performing, often in
quite important roles, where in truth she had something to
do. Therefore, it became possible, more of less, for people
to acknowledge her place and her strength as a Yiddish
actress.
The characteristic about Mrs.
Appel is that she is a healthy person: whatever she does not
have, in whatever area she does not perform, you feel that
for her, there is a healthy spirit. This is a human being
like all of us. She does not show in her conception of
things any accidental sick friendships; she is not a
mischievous character and is not an eccentric. You will not
notice in her work those features that are the peculiarity
of many artists. She's not a genius, but she's not crazy ...
In this actress, we have a person who is healthy, normal,
and when we look at her role as an actress from that point
of view, we will be able to comprehend everything that is
incomprehensible at first glance ..."
