Bettie was b
orn on 26 May 1891 in Lemberg, western Galicia. Her father was the theatre director and actor Chaim Binyamin Treitler.

As a six-year-old child she began to act with her father's troupe which he then led in Romania. Later she traveled with the troupe to England.

In 1902 she came with her family to America, and performed here in vaudeville.

In 1913 she began to act in the legitimate theatre in Newark and later in Brooklyn, New York.

In 1917 she married the actor Jacob Jacobs and began to act at the Lenox Theatre, afterwards at the Grand Theatre, and since 1926 at the National Theatre ...
